When a repair pays off
If the turbine and compressor housings are intact and the problem is in the cartridge, seals, geometry or actuator, a repair usually costs noticeably less than a new turbo.
When you need a replacement
If a housing is cracked or badly damaged by wheel fragments, a repair may not be worth it. After diagnostics we will tell you honestly which option is better.
Find the root cause
Turbos rarely die of old age. Much more often it is oil starvation, dirty oil, a blocked oil feed pipe or a foreign object. Unless the cause is fixed, a new or rebuilt turbo will fail quickly too, so we look at the cause during diagnostics.
Repair quality
A proper repair always includes cartridge balancing on a machine and, for VGT turbos, geometry calibration to a test plan. Without that, a "repaired" turbo will not last.
